As some in the Xbox scene may know, downloads for 6717, 9199 and 13604 are easy to find. One day, however, I was looking for a different dashboard version (7258 to be precise), and found that you need to extract it with some tools and a PC. After quickly learning how to do that (just a few commands you can find here), I managed to get the dash.xex and shrdres.xzp and launched them on my Xbox. However, as time went on and I wanted to try more and more dashboards, I noticed some problems:
Updates are big, Retail ones weigh at ~100MB whereas XDK EXEs upwards of 500MB. Some people may have slow internet or bandwidth caps.
You need to use a PC to extract the updates. While retail updates can be extracted on Linux through WINE, XDK EXEs require a Windows PC. Some people may not have a PC and instead copied files through FTP.
It's a boring task. The first few dashboards are fun to extract but then it just becomes extract, dump, rename, copy, repeat. Some people might not want to do this multiple times.
That's why I made this archive! The goal of it is to provide extracted and ready to use dashboard files. Just download the folder you want, copy it to a USB, HDD, or even run it with Xenia, and enjoy the dashboard!
